About ASCC - activities
Projects and National Involvement
ASCCis recognised by the Department of Health, and is one of the national organisations consulted routinely about community care developments and draft documents.
ASCC encourages the DoH to do more in terms of providing information material that would meet a national need, leaving local authorities (LAs) to concentrate on local information needs. There is still much duplication of effort going on up and down the country.
ASCC has formed a link with the Association of Directors of Social Services (ADSS) Information Management Group.
ASCC has established a link with Community Health Information Consortium (CHIC) .
ASCC was represented on the Social Services Information Management Group which designed and planned the inspection of SSDs public information services.
1999
ASCC participates in SSI conferences promoting Signposts to Services: information to the public.
ASCC- ADSS representation on ssin Policy Group - Rosemary Archer, Director SS, North Yorkshire and David Wright Director SS, Norfolk attended the Policy Group meeting. Discussion focused on how a two way process could be facilitated whereby ssin can inform the ADSS agenda on public information and the ADSS can be supported by ssin to promote public information.
ASCC- the first ssin/Community Care Awards announced at the ssin annual conference in Portsmouth.
ASCC - Launch of ssinWeb at ssin annual conference in Portsmouth.
1997
ASCC members were involved in a 'Social services information to the public workshop' at DoH. The aim of which, was to provide the opportunity to raise issues and explore options intended to help develop aspects of public information provision to the public by the Authorities present.
ASCC ADSS Conference, Blackpool - Prue Chennells and Jim Conalty ran a workshop where they drew attention to the need for information to be seen as part of social services rather than an optional extra.
1996
ASCC funding bid to DoH - Informing the Informers
ASCC involvement in Social Services Inspectorate (SSI) inspections and Joint Reviews. A design workshop was held over two days which considered the design of the SSI's planned inspection of SSDs Information Provision to the Public.
