ASCC Awards

The ASCC Awards recognise best practice in social care communication throughout the UK. The awards are a chance for all social care communicators to promote their best work.

The winning organisation in each category is presented with two framed certificates - one for themselves and one for their director.

The awards are open to everybody working in or with social care communication, so if there’s something you’re proud of let us know.

Entry is free for ASCC members, and £50 for non-members for each entry.

Categories

Publication: If you have produced a hard copy publication that you’re proud of, send it in and you could be in the running. This could be, for example, a leaflet, newsletter or poster.

Social Media: If you have produced a CD Rom, a DVD or video or have made innovative use of the internet or intranet, then this category is for you.

Campaign: If you have run a campaign to raise awareness around a service or issue that has required different forms of communication, then this is the category to enter.

Project on a budget: Tell us about your excellent communications project, which made the most efficient and effective use of limited funding.

What the judges are looking for

Your entry should be well written, simply presented and meet the entry criteria. The judges will want to see that the objectives of the communication have been met and will look for factual evidence of evaluation.

During the Summer of 2010 the judges will examine the entries and draw up a shortlist.

Awards presentation

The winners of each category and highly commended entries will be announced at the ASCC Annual Conference Awards Dinner on 22 September 2010.

How to enter

Every organisation will need to complete a form for each entry (see below).

Organisations can only have one entry per category.

A summary of the entry (no more than 500 words) should be included and the following headings should be used. This is your chance to tell the judges about your entry and why you should win.

The summary should be divided into the following headings.

You can include additional material with your summary, such as press cuttings and other promotional material. This will not be included in the 500 word limit of the summary sheet.

If you’re entering the Campaign category, you will need to send two packs of entry material, so each judge has the time to look through your submission in detail before they decide on the winner.

Each entry also needs to be sent on disc (the summary and other entry material) so we can use it on the ASCC website and in further publications after the award presentation.
